Design Doc Version 1.0

Here is version 1.0 of the design doc. Lots of stuff missing so tell me what you guys want and I will add it. Thanking you :)


1.0 Story/Overview

The world you see before you is one that is ruled by robots. It has always been that way. Robots question where they came from but never find any answers. That is until one day a satellite falls from space and crashes to the Earth. Robots come from all over the planet to see what it holds and discover its secrets. Contained within the satellite where many maps containing the same directions. The many faction of the world all took a map and followed the directions to an unknown island in the middle of the ocean. You play as Verne, a robot that has his own faction, except that he is the only member.

1.1 Introduction

Buccaneer Bots is a third person action game that has you sailing across oceans seeking treasure and answers. The main gameplay of Buccaneer Bots has the player exploring islands and seeking treasure. The game will also have shooting sections where you will use the many weapons of the world to defeat the other robot factions.

1.2 Plot Overview

1.3 Environments

1.3.1 Description

Mayan/Aztec Inspired Island – This Island is where all the action will happen. The player will be tasked with completing the many puzzles of the Island and finding out what treasure is hidden behind the waterfall.

The Ocean – The player will be able to explore the ocean and look for treasure and other Island to explore.

Verne – Verne is the main character in the game and the character that the player will control. He is a rusty old looking robot and is curious about where he came from and who made him.

Verne’s ship – Vernes ship is something that he put together in a hurry. It has no class or flair but it does what it is supposed to, get Verne from A to B.

4.1 Gameplay Basics

Treasure maps – The player will discover a collection of treasure maps in the world. They will lead to treasure but some will also give clues to discovering more of the story.

Combat – Combat will take place in the game by having the player shooting various enemies in the world. It will be an over the shoulder camera so the player can clearly see what they are shooting at.
